Our History
Every veteran is guaranteed a place to be buried but they are not guaranteed employment when their service ends. It was for this reason that Pittsburgh Hires Veterans (PHV) was founded. The organization developed as the result of a strategic collaboration with several organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA, New Century Careers and the John G. Rangos Sr. Family Foundation. Outdoor Odyssey, Inc. served as PHV’s fiscal sponsor in 2016 and 2017. Through a merger with Achieve, Pittsburgh Hires Veterans established its 501(c)3 designation in January 2018.

Pittsburgh Hires Veterans’ mission is to provide support and assistance to U.S. military veterans and current service members including the National Guard and Reserves, and their spouses in search of education, training and employment opportunities without regard to discharge status or era served.
